#Details

Occupied Australia is on the cusp of monumental change in recognising the sovereignty of Indigenous peoples with the commencement of treaty discussions in a number of States and Territories.

The arts sector is also considering new models for Indigenous art-making and administration. As we move closer towards self-determination models within policy, will the music industry get left behind? Is the current Indigenous music industry run by First Nations people? If not, how can we change this?

Sovereign Sounds is a forum that will unpack the current challenges for self-determination in the music industry whilst considering the Indigenous-led governance models that will allow the music industry to thrive.
